Carousel

Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Carousel at the Unity was my directorial debut for What We Did Next. I wanted to bring a simplicity to the production both visually and stripped back in musical arrangement to help concentrate on the performances given by my excellent cast. The artwork started with a paper model of a Carousel along with some fairy lights to create the bokeh effect in the photo we finally used. It made sense to tie in the link Liverpool has with the musical and include an alternative poster/flyer with “You’ll never walk alone” featured within the artwork. www.wwdn.co.uk/carousel-2014/

The Guild is at the center of University campus and in the lead up to our refurbishment I created a campaign to highlight that we would be out of the building, and update the membership with details of the build at various points in the year, including a live feed of the work. I wanted to use iconic imagery that people would recognise while they were walking around campus and keep us in mind.

Bat Boy: The Musical

Bat Boy: The Musical is about a half bat half boy who is raised by the family of the town vet, with extreme conseqences. I produced this show for What We Did Next and was responsible for the marketing and promotion in the build upto opening night. I wanted the artwork to be simple and add to the mystery of such a bizarrely titled show. www.wwdn.co.uk/bat-boy-the-musical/

Boom Bang Circus

Boom & Bang Circus brings the weird and the wonderful, the sacred and profane, the high and the decidedly low to the famous Hippodrome Casino in the heart of London’s West End. Boom and Bang present to you a late night cavalcade of exotic acts in the venue’s spectacular Matcham Room theatre. I devised a large poster piece to both promote the show and provide a back drop for performances using images from their shows.

My Little Lusitania is a collaboration between my good friend Felix Hagan and the ever so talented Louis Barabbas from Debt Records. I helped create the poster used in the video and the cover to the single from a sketch by a friend of Felix.

Into The Woods

Into the Woods is Sondheims re-imagining of classic fairy tales and as well as creating the artwork I was also the Wolf in the production tasked with seducing Little Red Riding Hood and ultimately being gutted. I love old books and I wanted to create something that looked like the books I read as a child and embracing the darker side of fairytales.
